Description

Holiday Villa on the ridge of the hills between Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta, in an eighteen-century park, the Sartori family built a modern, prestigious country house for their own family vacations. Now this house is available to families and groups wanting to spend a holiday in a roomy, comfortable, particularly charming house.

In the same park is a small nineteenth-century Castle built in neo-romantic style, fully renovated, facing the Italian-style garden, and an old Farmhouse called Casina Bianca, the “Little White House”. These are also separately available for short to medium term rentals.
For more information, browse the web site Villagattico.it and contact us: we would be happy to help you organise your stay.

The Villa, is of course at the heart of the property, in terms of both position and importance; this is the country house the Sartori family traditionally came to on their vacations, whether for a long weekend in spring or fall or for the long, hot summer holidays.
This elegant contemporary home was completed in 1971. It measures about 250 square metres on each floor: basement with a “tavern”, garage and wine cellars, ground floor "living area", including the entrance hall, double living room, dining room, study, kitchen, wardrobe, servant's room and bathroom, the first floor with its four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
It is suitable for up to 10 people.
A number of arcades create natural links between the house and the garden: during the day, everybody ends up spending more time under the arcades than in the large, comfortable living area!

An old country house next to the driveway has been converted into Casina bianca, “the small White House”, with a separate pedestrian entrance and its own lovely arcade-veranda. The ground floor of this old farmhouse is now a living room with a kitchenette, while the first floor has two bedrooms exposed to the morning sun and a balcony right above the old pergola covered with grapevines, a bedroom with a small double bed and a large bathroom. It is the ideal solution for a family of 3 or 4 people.

Castellino, “the small Castle”, is an old farm building, originally used as a stable as well as a home for farm hands, overlooking the old village square, Piazza Marconi. It has been converted into a charming, prestigious house that rises upwards to culminate in a turret offering a perfect spot for stargazing. It is composed by a basement with entrance off Vicolo Castello, containing wine cellars and a laundry room, a ground floor “living area” incorporating a living room, a small study, a kitchen and a bathroom, overlooking its own little courtyard with a driveway and a parking space, a second floor with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a magnificent stone patio for basking in the morning sun.
It is suitable for up to 6 people.

The lovely backdrop for the three buildings is a huge Park - with a capital P - measuring almost 10,000 square metres, planted in the eighteenth century and skilfully designed to blend large green spaces, paths, viewpoints, pools, terraces, greenhouses, paths, roads and many more points of interest.

Across from the Villa is a beautiful swimming pool used exclusively by the people staying in the three houses. The pool measures 6.30 metres wide and 12.60 metres long, varying in depth from 110 centimetres to 2.80 metres, with a children's slide and a spring diving board.
The water in the pool is heated.
Visitors can enjoy tanning in a large solarium with four sun beds hidden away from curious eyes.

How to reach it
If you are coming off the motorway, the most convenient exits are:
Borgomanero, if you are coming from the south (Genoa-Alessandria-Novara) on the A26 – after the toll booth, at the stop sign, turn left toward Borgomanero; once you get into the town, turn right just after the railway underpass; turn left after the second railway underpass and, at the stop sign about 200 metres further along, turn right. You will be in Gattico in five kilometres.
Arona, if you are coming from the North (Switzerland-Sempione Pass-Gravellona Toce) on the A26 – after the toll booth, go towards Arona, going down into the village of Oleggio Castello; turn right when you get into the town, on a country road that will take you up to Gattico.
Castelletto Ticino, if you’re coming from the East (Milan-Gallarate-Sesto Calende) on the A8dir – at the junction after the toll booth, turn left and take highway 32 toward Novara for a few hundred metres; when you come to the crossroads on the uphill stretch, turn right toward Borgomanero; you will be in Gattico after 6 kilometres.
If you are coming from Milan Malpensa 2000 airport, you should take the panoramic road through the lovely Ticino Park. As you leave the airport area you will come to a big roundabout; take the first right toward motorway A8 Milano-Varese; exit after about 1 kilometre and follow the directions for Somma Lombardo. Once you come to the town of Somma Lombardo, turn right at the first roundabout, toward the town centre, then turn left at the first traffic light. Please note that there are no road signs here, but you will find yourself on a sort of ring road. Continue along this road past a number of traffic lights, and turn left at the junction with the traffic light with the signs indicating Golasecca, Coarezza and Varallo Pombia. Just after this you will start a brief downhill stretch into the Ticino River valley. Watch out because the road suddenly turns sharply to the left, toward Varallo Pombia; if you carry on going straight ahead you will end up in Golasecca and Coarezza. Be careful not to make a mistake here; stay on the main road as it veers off to the left, with right of way over the road from Golasecca which is right in front of you. When you get down to the bottom of the valley, you will drive along the bank of the Ticino for a way and then cross the river on an impressive dam. Go back up the other side of the valley and just before you get to Varallo Pombia, turn to the right toward Castelletto Ticino. At the STOP sign about one kilometre further on, turn left and then turn right immediately, following the directions for Arona. Go through Varallo Pombia, turn right at the STOP sign and get onto highway n° 32 toward Arona. About 5 kilometres further on, turn left toward Borgomanero; another 6 kilometres and you will be in Gattico.
